Do you know how it feels

Do you know how it feels
To be pulled down by faceless monsters
Into a dark endless tunnel
Not knowing who they are,

where are they taking you.

Do you know how it feels
To walk around without a body
No hands, no legs, no head
Nothing but a heart, tied to a Boulder

How it feels to carry your heart all throughout and have nothing
Just the heart and that heavy Boulder

Do you know how it feels
To not know which path should you walk
Should you cry or should you laugh
Carrying a mask for so long that you forget what you are
But when you do realise who are you
You are so broken that you just don't know now what to do.

Darwin said the fittest will survive.

Do you know how it feels
to know that may be you are not the fittest
May be you won't survive
How it feels to be lost in the jungle of your own thoughts
Which are sometimes dark and sometimes run wild.

But do you know
Darwin wasn't right
You don't have to be the fittest to survive
You have to acknowledge that you are fragile
You have to reach out for that one helping hand
you don't have to be strong for the world outside
If you can't stand it any more you have to give yourself the liberty to break
but then slowly pick up the pieces of your shattered soul and walk ahead.

No it's not the fittest who survive
it's the ones who give it a fight
it's the ones who are not afraid to cry,
It's the ones who give at least one chance to life.

  1. it's true.. it takes vulnerability and be willing to show it.

    1. Not sure if it's lock but accepting that you don't have to be strong and giving yourself the freedom to break down helps a lot to recollect your self.

  4. I appreciate the need to acknowledge that we are fragile. I think that is what seperates us from apex predators. I mean seriously, are we just another animal - ran by our senses? You can not give up on life, or it will def give up on you. Very nice progression in this.

  5. So true that oftentimes the ones who survive ARE those who give it a fight, who keep trying despite obstacles, who have the faith in themselves that they can and will make it in the end!

    (Great to see you again!)

  6. This poem really speaks to me. Having made my own painful journey, and having supported others in making theirs, those who may appear most fragile are actually very strong - to have survived and, as you say, decided to give living another chance. I like the authentic voice you use in this poem.

  7. Bravo! Take Darwin to task! I love this particularly:
"how it feels to be lost in the jungle of your own thoughts
Which are sometimes dark and sometimes run wild."
Oh, yes, I know this and the boulder and all. After decades pass in this fashion, I learned that darkness can be restful and that wildness can be delightful. Thank you for this poem.

it's the ones who give it a fight

I love the optimism in these lines.. indeed the ones who fight and struggle also have a chance at survival.
    Beautifully executed.

    Lots of love,

  11. I am glad the poem turned hopeful, with wise advice at the end (However I don't think Darwin meant 'fittest' in the sense of 'strongest' but rather 'those best fitted' for survival. The ability to deal with one's fragility could well be part of that!)

    1. I agree Rosemary may Darwin was a genius and I agree he probably did mean those who are fit to survive. However, I just took bit of creative liberty with Darwin's theory ;) Thanks for your wonderful comment.
